The fifth episode of the L&D Go Beyond podcast has Amit Garg speaking with Phil Reddall, the Head of Learning and Capability Systems at Thames Water, UK. Phil is passionate about efficiency, effectiveness and impact of people/HR services; especially in learning.
During the conversation, Phil shares how he believes that the focus of innovation should be on people, as technology innovation is not so much under our control. He also emphasizes that innovation should have a purpose – there must be a business case for every innovation effort and each such effort must be outcome oriented, rather than just wanting to flaunt the ‘shiny toy’ of technology as he puts it.
Phil also talks about innovation being very context specific so everyone will have a different version of what innovation looks like. But essentially, curiosity is crucial for innovation and an ‘innovation funnel’ could help you structure and progress innovation better.
Do tune in to this candid talk by Phil as he speaks his heart and mind about innovation in L&D.
