In the second episode of the L&D Go Beyond podcast, Amit Garg speaks with Kirk Donaghey, who has recently added being the Standards and Frameworks Manager at Optus, Australia to his portfolio. Kirk has spent the last 6 years with Optus in various roles within L&D. Before that, he spent a substantial tenure at Suncorp Bank.
Kirk’s passion for empowering everyone so that they had the clarity and capability in doing what they did, developed into a career in L&D. He is experienced in both sales and training and has a fairly good understanding of how to engage learners in the ‘too-busy’ category. According to Kirk, for such learners the learning experience needs high value and low effort to keep them engaged and to make them come back to the training more than once.
He also shares some wonderful insights on how learning engagement is different from learning experience and talks about some tools and frameworks that they use at Optus for brining engagement to their training programs.
